Hawai`i Watercolor Society

The Hawai`i Watercolor Society was founded in 1962 by Hawai`i Artist Hon Chew Hee. Our aim as an organization is to nurture and stimulate interest in water media through education, exhibits, and collaboration with other organizations, associations and individuals.

The Hawai`i Watercolor Society sponsors two juried exhibits every year as well as a biennial curated show highlighting the work of our signature members. In addition, we host periodic sales, themed shows and community events.

In conjunction with our exhibits we offer two week long workshops each year featuring nationally recognized teaching artists. On an intermittent basis we sponsor shorter duration workshops on a variety of art-related topics.

Born and raised in Hawaii, Kelly grew up in a small sugar plantation town on the island of Oahu. She has spent most of her career as administrative support in the healthcare industry, while pursuing her passion for watercolor. A signature member of the Hawaii Watercolor Society, Kelly’s artwork has earned awards and recognition in exhibitions held by various Hawaii art organizations, and has been accepted into juried national and international web based shows. She has created commissioned paintings for the Westin Princeville and for individual collectors.

While there is no shortage of beautiful scenery in Hawaii, Kelly also finds inspiration while traveling. She hopes her images capture the emotion felt while viewing the scene. Be it joy, awe, sadness, respect, or any reaction, she hopes to share it with you through her work.
