HWS 2027 Members Show

This juried exhibition will be displayed at the Downtown Art Center (DAC),
1041 Nu’uanu Avenue, 2nd Floor Gallery, Honolulu, Hawai’i.
HWS and DAC will also feature the exhibit online here and at www.downtownarthi.org.
Entry to this show is open to Hawai’i Watercolor Society members.
If you are not currently a member of the Hawai’i Watercolor Society, you may join
before submitting your entries to the show. The annual membership fee is $40
dollars per year. Sign up for membership here.

Juror: Ruth Armitage
“Watercolor was my first love and still teaches me new things each time I work with it. Artists who have tried many media consider that watercolor is perhaps the most difficult of all,
but its rewards outweigh its challenges.”
Ruth has earned signature membership in the American Watercolor Society, the National Watercolor Society, the Western Federation of Watercolor Societies, the San Diego
Watercolor Society, Watercolor West, the Rocky Mountain National Watercolor Society, The California Watercolor Association and theNorthwest Watercolor Society.
She is President Emeritus of the Watercolor Society of Oregon and has served as Oregon’s Delegate to the Western Federation of Watercolor Societies.
Ruth’s work has received many local and national awards, including the Bronze Medal of Honor in the American Watercolor Society’s 155th International Exhibition and the Loa Ruth
Sprung Award in the National Watercolor Society’s 95th Annual Exhibition. She has served as a juror for local, national, and international exhibitions and taught
throughout the US and abroad.
HWS contracts the juror to serve as an independent arbiter of the artwork submitted to the 2027 Members’ Show. HWS grants the juror full independence to evaluate
submitted artwork,
select pieces for the exhibit, and choose works for awards and recognition. The juror may apply objective and subjective criteria commonly used in art competitions and exhibitions.
The juror’s decisions are final unless HWS determines that a selected work violates the Prospectus or Exhibit requirements. All participating artists must treat the juror with courtesy and respect throughout the exhibition process.
$14 per show entry (i.e. If entering 4 paintings the fee is $56). Deadline for registration and submitting your images is Friday January 8, 2027 at 5 pm HST.
