Plein Air Color Emphasis Landscape

 Color Emphasis Landscape 5-Day Workshop – March 26-30, 2012

Through the language of watercolor, we painters can explore the natural world around us in fresh , exciting and more personal ways. Regardless of the landscape we choose to explore, or our personal approach to painting, we all have in common the search for a more vital color statement.  Color offers us a wonderful opportunity to express our individual feeling about any chosen subject.

Don's Color Emphasis Landscape class isn't geared to any specific level of achievement, rather artists at all levels will benefit for a 5 day exploration into color, design , organization, light and their utilization in the exciting world of landscape painting. This workshop will be packed with demonstrations, discussions, individual help, personal and group critiques.

Workshop is limited to 25 students. Don demos each morning for one hour then the students paint with instructor advising individually. After lunch we will resume with an afternoon demo of one hour followed by a student painting session . Each day will include personal and/or group critiques. Please bring a sack lunch.

        Interpreting the Figure in Watercolor

5-Day Figure Workshop – April 2-6, 2012

Addressing the figure as the subject for a painting with the same artistic freedom and looseness employed when attempting other subjects in nature is the central theme of Don'ts figure class.

"Throughout the workshop I will be putting forth the concept that successful figure painting is more than a visual explanation of anatomical parts. While there is nothing wrong with reporting detail, perhaps we have traveled down the "detail" road long enough. We can also benefit from exploring the figure through color, design, and paint quality directions as well."

Don's classes are geared to the intermediate and advanced painters who are looking for a challenge. Daily demonstrations will excite and stimulate those artists who are eager to stretch beyond the usual answers and discover a new looseness and expressive paint quality in their work.

Each workshop is
$425 for members - $465 for non-members

The supply list  can be found online and a copy will be sent via email to those that sign up for the class.
